ASHGABAT (TCA) — President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov held a video-conference working session on January 21 with the participation of some vice-premiers and hyakims (heads of administration) of Ashgabat and velayats (provinces), to discuss seasonal agricultural works and the aspects of social and economic development of the capital and regions, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reported.

At the video-conference session, the President highlighted the objectives of digitization of all branches of the national economy including the agricultural sector and government administration of Turkmenistan, having noted that some work has been completed in this direction, in particular, the system of electronic documentation has been introduced.

During the session, the head of state sent signed documents via the system of electronic documentation, which were immediately received by the hyakims of the velayats.

A similar system of electronic document management is being implemented across Turkmenistan. It will help connect document flows of different branches of government to a unified working environment using technical capabilities of the system of cooperation between the departments, which is being developed on a digital basis these days.

It is worth noting that on January 18, President Berdymukhammedov already held a weekly Cabinet session by contacting the government officials via “digital video conferencing” despite the fact that he had previously preferred to have face-to-face meetings with Deputy Prime Ministers, independent news website Chronicles of Turkmenistan reported.

“The digitalization” has become a new trend of the Turkmen policy after the Turkmen President had recently called for increasing the contribution of digital technologies into Turkmenistan’s GDP.
