TASHKENT (TCA) — The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has said that 2019 will be a turning point in tourism development in the country. He said this at the meeting devoted to implementation of investment projects, held on January 8, the Jahon information agency reported.
The head of the state spoke about the need for strengthening the attraction of direct investments in tourism.
“We are gradually creating all conditions for tourism, providing wide opportunities for investors, business people. 2019 will be a turning point in tourism development,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The President forwarded proposals for the development of the tourism sphere in his recent Address to the Oliy Majlis (parliament). In order to implement these proposals in accordance with the Decree of the President of January 5 this year, the Concept for development of the tourism sector in Uzbekistan for 2019-2025 was approved. On the same day, a list of promising projects for organization of hotels was approved by the resolution of the President.
As reported by the Press Service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, almost 2.7 million tourists visited Uzbekistan in 2017, and in 2018 – more than 5.3 million tourists. By 2025, it is planned to increase the number of foreign tourists to 7 million, as well as the annual income from the export of tourist services up to 2 billion USD.
