Uzbekistan’s Navoi FIEZ attracts new foreign investors

TASHKENT (TCA) — Uzbekistan’s Navoi Free Industrial and Economic Zone (FIEZ) has attracted more than $40 million of foreign direct investments from China, Singapore, South Korea, India, Italy, the UAE, and Great Britain, Novosti Uzbekistana news portal reported.  

According to official figures, total investments in the FIEZ have exceeded $124 million.

Last year, the FIEZ exported products worth $5 million.

The Navoi FIEZ now has 22 production facilities, every fifth of which manufactures automotive components.

In 2015, the FIEZ established three new productions with British investors.

British companies Dartlex Impex LLP and J-United Group LLC and Uzbek private investors created joint ventures Green Line Profil and National Plast to produce aluminum and PVC products.

Uzbek-British joint venture Smart Communications LLC, founded by Infinity Electronics LLC and British company Wynex Innovation LLP, is to produce 200 thousand mobile phones.

In January 2016 the Navoi FIEZ launched a new joint venture, Novo Pharm Komplekt, established by British company Novo Pharm Komplekt and Uzbek company Fayz Farm. It is implementing a $3.7 million project to produce medication.

Covering an area of 564 hectares, the Navoi FIEZ is located adjacent to one of the most developed industrial cities of Uzbekistan, Navoi, and within a distance of 100-175 km from large cities and industrial centers of Bukhara and Samarkand.

The Navoi FIEZ provides a special legal regime including taxation, currency exchange and customs regimes, simplified order for entry, stay and departure, as well as obtaining work permits for non-residents of Uzbekistan, and extensive tax and customs preferences.
