TASHKENT (TCA) — Uzbekkino National Agency together with the Delegation of the European Union to Uzbekistan with the support of the National Association of Electronic Mass Media of Uzbekistan are holding the 7th annual European Film Festival in Uzbekistan from October 11 to November 10.
The opening ceremony took place on October 11 in Tashkent. Film screenings will be held until October 18, the festival in Nukus will be held from October 24 to 26, in Urgench from November 1 to 3, and in Jizzakh from November 8 to 10, the Delegation of the European Union to Uzbekistan said.
Within the framework of the festival, 10 films of famous directors from 12 European countries will be presented: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Hungary, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Latvia, the Netherlands, Finland, France, and Sweden. The films include the comedy drama “King of the Belgians”, the animated film “Louise by the Shore”, the documentary “Stefan Zweig: farewell to Europe”, the drama “the Exam” and “Bloody Milk”, “Homo sapiens” — a film shot without a single person in the frame, a documentary “The distant barking of dogs”, a drama with elements of the criminal “Chiambra”, a cheerful documentary “The happiest day in life” and the feature film “Paradise 89”. Among them are films-winners of international film festivals and winners of prestigious international awards.
“The European nations indeed represent a broad range of cultural features that we are happy to introduce to you through these films, but they are, nevertheless, united by strong common values. We are very happy to see that Uzbekistan is striving to adhere to the same set of values through its ongoing reform process,” said Ambassador Eduards Stiprais, Head of the EU Delegation to Uzbekistan.
All films are shown in the original language with subtitles in Russian and Uzbek. Admission to all screenings is free.
