11 free economic zones were created in Kazakhstan in order to activate the accelerated development of the regions, attract investment, technology, create highly efficient and competitive industries. The Ontustik Special Economic Zone was established by the Decree of the President of Kazakhstan dated July 6, 2005 with the aim of accelerating the development of the region, to create highly efficient industries, develop petrochemical, textile, and chemical industries, and to improve the quality and expand the range of products.
