Uzbek-Chinese-Arab JV building new cement plant in Uzbekistan

TASHKENT (TCA) — Construction of a new cement plant has been launched by the Uzbek-Chinese-Arab joint venture, Popcement, in the Pap district of Uzbekistan’s Namangan region, the Jahon information agency reported.

At the ceremony of laying the foundation of the new plant it was said that during the visit to Namangan region in July 2017, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev identified important tasks to effectively use the available opportunities for increasing the region’s economic potential, and a number of promising projects for technological re-equipment of existing industrial enterprises and construction of new production facilities.

The new enterprise for the production of cement is being built on the grounds of the former limited liability company Uzruberoid of the Pap district, which has become one of the important steps towards the development of the construction industry not only of the region, but of the whole country.

“Completion of construction and installation works at the enterprise is planned in September this year,” the plant’s engineer-technologist Yo Shin Wang (China) said. “We are glad that we are participating in the implementation of such a large project in Uzbekistan. We believe that our cooperation will continue to develop.”

The new plant will cost US $50 million. It will produce an estimated 500,000 tons of cement per year from local raw materials. After its completion, the new plant will create about 700 jobs.
