Uzbekistan and China to open new air routes

TASHKENT (TCA) — On September 27, a charter flight on the route Xi’an – Tashkent – Xi’an was carried out as a result of efforts of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in China and Zhejang Loong Airlines Co. Ltd., the Jahon information agency reported.

Acting Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development A. Okkulov met the Chinese guests.

Representatives of Zhejang Loong Airlines Co. Ltd. attended the first International Investment Forum on Tourism, held in Tashkent in 2018. Following the talks, they agreed to attract investment of Chinese enterprises in the tourism infrastructure of Uzbekistan, jointly create special tourism products, as well as increase the flow of tourists from China to Uzbekistan and establish direct flights.

The first Xi’an – Tashkent – Xi’an flight was carried out by an Airbus A320neo. Its first passengers were the airline’s delegation led by its President Liu Yi.

Currently, the ministries of transport of the two countries and relevant agencies are considering the issue of establishing regular flights on the route Xi’an – Tashkent – Xi’an. It is planned to bring the frequency of flights between the two countries to 15 flights per week. Negotiations are also being held on direct air communications of Uzbekistan with China’s cities of Sanya, Yiwu, Guangzhou, and Shanghai.
