ASTANA (TCA) — A delegation of the South Kazakhstan Region, headed by First Deputy Governor Darkhan Satybaldy, visited Austria from August 1-6 to establish cooperation with the Austrian Federal State of Carinthia, as both regions have similar geographical conditions and economic structure, the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
In Klagenfurt, the capital of Carinthia, the delegation of South Kazakhstan Region held meetings with the Governor of the State of Carinthia, Peter Kaiser; the President of Parliament, Reichard Rohr; the President of the Economic Chamber, Jurgen Mandl; and the Director of the Chamber of Agriculture, Hans Mikl.
The Kazakh delegation visited the leading enterprises of Carinthia, in order to discuss prospects of industrial and investment cooperation, as well as tourist sites in Carinthia, in order to study the Austrian experience in the sphere of tourism management.
The delegation also shortly traveled to federal states of Styria, Vienna and Lower Austria to visit major industrial companies and discuss cooperation. In order to promote the tourism potential of the South Kazakhstan Region, a tourism promotion event “Discovering South Kazakhstan” was held in the cities of Graz and Vienna.
South Kazakhstan and Carinthia agreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation during the next visit of the delegation of Austrian Federal State of Carinthia to South Kazakhstan or the visit of South Kazakhstan delegation to Carinthia.
