US helps expand business opportunities for young Kyrgyz entrepreneurs

BISHKEK (TCA) — In partnership with Ideagrad, the USAID Business Growth Initiative (BGI) will hold a Summer Boot Camp Demo Day at the Ololohaus in Bishkek (163/1 Moskovskaya St.) at 4.30 pm on August 24. Throughout the event, seven teams of young entrepreneurs will present their newly developed products and services to a group of potential investors and sponsors, the US Embassy in Kyrgyzstan said.

The Demo Day presentations are the culmination of an intensive, 10-week business training and mentoring program funded by USAID and implemented by Ideagrad, a business incubator that fosters and invests in youth start-up businesses in the Kyrgyz Republic.  This is the second year of the program implemented with USAID’s support.

This year’s participants initially competed against 47 teams of entrepreneurs for the opportunity to hone their skills and refine their strategies in the business incubation program. Under Ideagrad’s guidance, the successful teams have spent the past 10 weeks developing their business plans, producing prototypes of their products or services, and conducting market research.

The event is open to invited guests and registered press.

The Ideagrad Summer Boot Camp is one of many initiatives supported by the United States through the USAID Business Growth Initiative, a four-year project that builds and strengthens the competitiveness of Kyrgyzstan’s economic sectors; including tourism, apparel manufacturing, and construction materials.
