Uzbekistan seeking to export canned pilaf to Germany and Switzerland

TASHKENT (TCA) — A business forum of Uzbekistan and Switzerland was recently held in Zurich, the Jahon information agency reports.

The event was attended by representatives of Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Fund for Supporting Export of Small Business and Private Entrepreneurship, as well as about ten Uzbek textile and pharmaceutical companies.

Swiss companies were acquainted with commercial offers of Uzbek companies and promising projects for joint implementation.

An agreement was reached at the business forum on establishment and further intensifying cooperation with importing enterprises, large trading networks and retail companies, business associations and other partner organizations in Switzerland and countries of the European Union with the goal of importing products of Uzbek small businesses to the markets of these countries, participation of entrepreneurs of Uzbekistan in exhibitions and fairs, and obtaining necessary licenses and certificates.

The Fund’s representative office in Switzerland and European Union countries will also study market conditions, conduct marketing research, and exchange information on legislation on the export of Uzbek products to Europe.

At present, the Fund for Supporting Export of Small Business and Private Entrepreneurship in cooperation with the Uzbek Embassy in Germany is considering the issue of organizing the export of canned pilaf to Germany and Switzerland. Negotiations are in progress on obtaining a certificate required in accordance with EU legislation for importing this type of product.
