ASTANA (TCA) — Afghanistan’s Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah during his official visit to Kazakhstan met with Kazakh officials and investors, with the sides having agreed on the expansion of trade and transit relations between the two countries, TOLOnews agency reported on August 18.
Addressing a meeting with Kazakh officials, Abdullah said his team will further discuss the ways to improve facilities for Afghan investors in Kazakhstan, the chief executive’s office said in a statement on August 18.
Abdullah stressed the need for more investments of Kazakhstan investors in Afghanistan.
“The Afghan government is ready to ensure the safety of Kazakhstan investors and will consider special privileges for them to prevent any challenges on the way of their investment in Afghanistan,” he said.
Meanwhile, Yerlan Arinov, chairman of the Kazakhstan International Chamber of Commerce, said that trade between Afghanistan and Kazakhstan has reached US $50 million, adding that the amount needs to be increased.
“Kazakhstan investors are committed to increasing the trade volume with Afghanistan in transit, liquid gas, mining, industries, logistics, exports and imports,” he said.
At the same event, the Afghan commerce and industries minister Humayun Rasa said they will appoint a trade representative from Afghanistan in Astana with the hope that the envoy would facilitate the sale of Afghan products in the Kazakhstan market.
