ALMATY (TCA) — The Khorgos International Center of Trans-boundary Cooperation last week hosted a fair of commodity producers of Kazakhstan’s Almaty region. The fair attracted 6,500 visitors from neighboring China, the press service of ICBC Khorgos said.
The Khorgos International Center of Trans-boundary Cooperation was established under an agreement between the Governments of Kazakhstan and China. The Khorgos border cooperation center consists of Kazakh and Chinese parts, located on the border between the two countries in the Panfilov district of Almaty province, with a total area of 560 hectares and connected by a “special passage” across the state border. Within the territory of the Centre, goods (cargoes) and vehicles move freely, without the need for a visa.
Trade tents with products “Made in Kazakhstan” were in great demand among Chinese tourists who noted the environmentally friendly production and high quality of Kazakhstani products.
Entrepreneurs from Almaty and Almaty region exhibited dairy, flour, confectionery, beekeeping products, and handicrafts.
According to Kakharman Jazin, President of ICBC Khorgos, support and promotion of Kazakhstan’s export is one of the key tasks facing the Center.
“The trade fair gives good opportunities for domestic entrepreneurs to expand the market for their products, strengthen partnerships, develop cooperation with business circles,” he said.
According to ICBC Khorgos, every day the trans-boundary center is visited by an average of 2,500-3,000 people.
In 2017, the number of visitors from the Kazakh side is expected to exceed 850 thousand.
