First ‘made in Kazakhstan’ food store opens in Astana

ASTANA (TCA) — The first “Brand of Nation” food market opened on March 5 in the Kazakh capital Astana, which sells domestically-produced food only, the official website of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reported.

“Here you can find an assortment of foods from all over Kazakhstan, from South Kazakhstan region to Mangistau. There are more than 2 thousand items of 300 brands. The first opening was held in Astana, and the store is called ‘Astana Brand of Kazakhstan’. We will open a network of such stores across the country. All 22 stores will have a regional title. So we want to promote the agrarian opportunities of Kazakhstan among the population,” head of the project Rimma Tazhibayeva said.

The owner of the store, Rakhima Gazizova, said that prices in the store are 10-15 percent lower than in other stores because it works directly with producers.

The Vice-President of the Association of Trading Companies of Kazakhstan, Zhibek Azhibayeva, said that the store sells products from about 50 Kazakh producers from different regions of Kazakhstan.

There will be a network of similar shops all over Kazakhstan. For this purpose, a professional team of marketers will be attracted.

Azhibayeva said that the “Brand of Nation” is the choice of the people. “Thus we are trying to form the taste of our producers in respect of our local products.”
