Italian company to build a rapeseed processing plant in North Kazakhstan

ASTANA (TCA) — An Italian company will build a rapeseed processing plant in the North Kazakhstan province, the province’s Deputy Governor Mukhtar Mankeyev said, Novosti-Kazakhstan news agency reported.

“Today we signed a memorandum with an Italian company which will purchase more than 2.3 thousand hectares of land in the Kyzylzhar district and in April will sow rape for its further processing. They will build a rapeseed processing plant,” Mankeyev said after the first meeting of the Investment Council of the North Kazakhstan province last Friday.

It was reported last week that agro-industrial company Inalca Eurasia, part of Italy’s Cremonini Group, will develop a brand for Kazakh meat for its further export to Europe and Russia.

Inalca Eurasia will invest more than 100 million euros to create a vertically-integrated company for construction in three regions of Kazakhstan of cattle-raising farms for a total of 44 thousand heads. It is also planned to modernize a meat-processing plant in the Aktyubinsk province to increase its production capacity to 20 thousand tons of meat and meat products a year.

The deputy governor also told about another new project in the North Kazakhstan province — construction of a plant for deep processing of grain.

“The new plant will produce starch and bio-ethanol. The project will be implemented by a Chinese company. The project will create more than 1,200 jobs. The plant will be able to process 250 thousand tons of grain per year. Investments will exceed $200 million,” Mankeyev said.
