Tajikistan and Russia hold cooperation conference in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE (TCA) — The Sixth Russia-Tajikistan Interregional Cooperation Conference took place in Dushanbe on 29 May. For years the Conference has been viewed as one of the main platforms for interregional cooperation discussions between the two countries.

The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan organized the Conference with the support of the Roscongress Foundation.

Plenary session with the participation of the Deputy Minister of the Economic Development of the Russian Federation Alexey Gruzdev and the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Nematullo Khikmatullozoda was the key event of the Conference.

Gruzdev noted the critical importance of the Conference for the development of interregional cooperation between the two countries.

“In the eight years since the first Conference, this format has proven itself a powerful discussion platform that brings together representatives of public authorities, business and expert communities and plays an important role in unlocking the potential of bilateral cooperation between our countries.”

The main topic of the Conference ‘Interregional Cooperation: Engine for Upward Business Development’ gathered more than 300 representatives of Russian and Tajik regions, executive and legislative authorities, business, non-governmental organizations, and mass media of the two countries.

The Conference hosted three topical round tables titled Russia-Tajikistan Agricultural Cooperation, Current Legal Regulation of Labour Migration between Russia and Tajikistan: Ways to Improvement, and Principle Directions for Humanitarian and Interregional Relations between Russia and Tajikistan. Additionally, the Business Programme included the Dushanbe Business Meetings: presentations of export potential and workshops on the promotion of Russian products in Tajikistan and Tajik products in the Russian Federation, organized by the CCIs of Russia and Tajikistan and AO REC.

On the sidelines of the Conference, Tractor LLC and Sarob LLC signed an export contract on the agricultural machinery supply and the Lipetsk (Russia) Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed an agreement on cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan.
