Bishkek to host Francophonie week

BISHKEK (TCA) — The Alliance française in Bishkek jointly with the Embassies of Switzerland, France, Belgium and the Club France are holding the week of Francophonie in Bishkek from March 12 to 19.

The event is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Francophonie Week is the festival of the French language and cultures of the French-speaking countries, which is celebrated in the middle of March across the world. The organizers have prepared a program for the broad public to show the linguistic and cultural diversity of the French-speaking countries.

On 12 March at 17:00, the Ambassadors of France, Switzerland and Belgium will officially open the Francophonie week-2016 in the “Oktyabr” cinema followed by the French movie “Une heure de tranquillité”.

Major events of the week are:

– Swiss and French movies will be shown in the cinema “Oktyabr”: the French comedy film – on March 12th at 17:00 and the Swiss comedy films on March 18th at 17:30. The movies will be shown in French language with Russian subtitles;

– Conference of Kyrgyzstan’s teachers of the French language: “The use of digital resources for teaching the French language” and the round table: “Results and prospects of Francophonie in Kyrgyzstan” with the participation of French and Swiss Ambassadors in Kyrgyzstan will take place at 10:00 on 14th of March in the gymnasium #26, a school with an intensive study of the French language;

– Swiss Evening at “Sierra Tash Rabat”: visitors can enjoy Swiss music and the delights of Swiss cuisine on 15th of March at 18:30.

This year, the Bishkek Francophonie program contains traditional events such as a culinary atelier, a competition of modern French songs, an evening of French wines, and much more.
