Kazakhstan’s Baiterek holding, European Investment Bank to finance ‘green’ projects

ASTANA (TCA) — Chairman of the Executive Board of Kazakhstan’s National Managing Holding Baiterek Erbolat Dossaev held talks with Vazil Hudak, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank, who was on a visit to Kazakhstan, Baiterek’s press service said on June 2.

Dossaev and Hudak discussed the prospects for collaboration, in particular, the funding of small and medium-sized business entities that implement domestic projects with a positive impact on the environment, in the amount of 200 million euros from Damu fund (subsidiary of the Baiterek Holding).

The parties also discussed cooperation in the area of transfer and innovation, in which the National Agency for Technological Development, a subsidiary of Baiterek, can act as a technology broker.

Additionally, the parties signed an agreement on extension of EIB credit facilities for the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, another subsidiary of the Baiterek Holding, in the amount of 120 million euros, 50 percent of which will be allocated to infrastructure, industrial production and energy-related ‘green’ projects.

The main task of Baiterek Holding is the management of national development institutions and national companies of Kazakhstan.

The Holding aims to support sustainable development of the economy in Kazakhstan by financial support to priority economy sectors, support small and medium enterprises, new modern economy sectors and innovation development, and Kazakhstani companies’ export activity.
