Spain to help Uzbekistan introduce VAT refund system, develop tourism

TASHKENT (TCA) — Spain’s Innova Tax Free Group is ready to develop a shopping tourism development strategy for Uzbekistan, which also provides for introduction of a system for refunding value added tax in purchasing consumer goods (tax free system) in Uzbekistan, the Jahon information agency reported.

The Spanish company will send a group of experts to Uzbekistan in the third decade of February in order to study the Uzbek market.

During the planned visit, meetings will be held with the leadership of the State Customs Committee, the State Tax Committee, the Ministries of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan to discuss cooperation and identify specific partnership areas.

In other news, a memorandum of cooperation in the field of tourism was signed between the State Committee on Development of Tourism of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda of Spain within the framework of Uzbekistan’s participation in FITUR International Tourism Fair in Madrid in January.

The document provides for implementation of a number of projects, including introduction of innovative technologies in the sphere of tourism and marketing research.

A Spanish expert in the sphere of tourism will visit Uzbekistan in early February to study the state of the country’s tourism infrastructure and the level of education in the field of tourism, as well as to help prepare recommendations for development of a national tourism product and promotion of “Uzbekistan” tourism brand in the world tourism market.
