BISHKEK (TCA) — Last year Kyrgyzstan’s export to Russia grew 28.6 percent, Kyrgyzstan Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Pankratov said at the 5th Kyrgyz-Russian inter-regional conference “Development of inter-regional ties in the context of Eurasian integration process,” held on June 2 in Ufa, the capital of Russia’s Bashkortostan Region.
“The government of the Kyrgyz Republic considers it important to strengthen the dialogue between the regions of Kyrgyzstan and of the Russian Federation,” the Kyrgyz governmental press service quoted Pankratov as saying.
He said that in 2015, trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Russia amounted to $1.4 billion or almost 25 percent of Kyrgyzstan total foreign trade, and Russian investments in Kyrgyzstan doubled, up to $118.2 million (14.5 percent of all foreign investments in Kyrgyzstan last year).
Pankratov emphasized that deepening the integration cooperation between the two countries within the Eurasian Economic Union will become an important factor for achieving sustainable economic growth and preventing negative trends related to global economic crisis.
“I am confident that we will feel real integration results in the near future,” he said.
During their bilateral meeting in Ufa, Deputy PM Pankratov and Rustem Khamitov, the head of the Bashkortostan Region, agreed that Kyrgyzstan and Bashkortostan will be expanding bilateral cooperation.
“Inter-regional cooperation between the two countries has a huge potential that must be used for the maximum benefit of the two nations. Bashkortostan is interested in developing cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in the spheres of transport, machine-building, agriculture, tourism, education, and culture,” Khamitov said.
